ALARIS group members consisting of Dr. Almas Shintemirov, and researcher Aibek Niyetkaliyev presented a paper at the 2014 IEEE/ASME International Conference on Advanced Intelligent Mechatronics (AIM 2014) which was held on July 8-11, 2014 in Besançon, France. The AIM 2014 conference brought together an international community of experts to discuss the state-of-the-art, new research results, perspectives of future developments, and innovative applications relevant to mechatronics, robotics, control, automation, and related areas. Our NU members developed valuable connections for future collaborations.
The oral presentation of the paper “An Aproach for Obtaining Unique Kinematic Solutions of a Spherical Parallel Manipulator” given by Aibek Niyetkaliyev was well received by the audience of “Kinematics” session, where Dr. Shintemirov was also present as a session Chair.
The paper presents an approach for obtaining unique solutions to forward and inverse kinematics of a spherical parallel manipulator (SPM) system with revolute joints. Kinematic analysis of a general SPM with revolute joints is revisited and the proposed approach is formulated in the form of easy-to-follow algorithms that are described in detail. A graphical verification method using SPM computer-aided design (CAD) models is presented together with numerical and experimental examples that confirm the correctness of the proposed approach. It is expected that this approach can be applied to SPMs with different geometries and can be useful in designing real-time control systems of SPMs.
After the AIM conference, our ALARIS group members also visited the Institute of Intelligent Systems and Robotics at University of Pierre and Marie Curie in Paris, where one of our alumni Zhanat Kappassov is currently doing his PhD studies. During the visit our NU members developed valuable connections with Zhanat’s supervisor for future collaborations.
